Fantastic news, the Tour de France is coming right through upper Swaledale in July, 2014. The Saturday leg, 5 July, travels through Wharfedale, Bishopdale and Wensleydale, before arriving, via the Buttertubs, in Swaledale, at the guide post near Thwaite. The riders then follow the B6270 through Muker, Gunnerside, Low Row, Healaugh, Reeth and Fremington, to Grinton, where they go over the moor road to Leyburn.

For anyone interested in cycling, a unique opportunity to witness superstar cyclists at close hand, amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain.  Many hotels, b&bs etc already booked up, although there is still some holiday cottage availability (but it's booking up fast!).

If you want to be part of the Yorkshire Tour de France, you are urged to book accommodation as soon as possible; it is expected all accommodation will be booked up within the next month or two.
