The Map below shows the location of Reeth in Swaledale and Langthwaite in Arkengarthdale. Click on the navigation icons on the map to scroll the map view and zoom in or zoom out to view a broader area.

THE ROUTE FROM THE A1 SOUTH

• Travelling north on the A1 take the turn for Catterick and Richmond, B6136, some 5 miles before Scotch Corner.
• Over the A1, turn left at the T-junction, through Catterick Village, past the race course and over the river Swale.
• Turn left opposite the Farmers' Arms signed Brompton-on-Swale B6271, through Brompton and bear left at the fork junction.
• Enter Richmond, bear left at the fork junction ‘A'.  Straight over the first roundabout and turn right at the next, signed Leyburn B6108 & Reeth (B6270).
• After some 4.5 miles turn right for Reeth B6270.
• After some 5.5 miles, having passed through Grinton, over a bridge, through Fremington and over a second bridge you will be driving over the village green in Reeth.
• The Buck Hotel is in front of you & a right turn takes you into Arkengarthdale, the village of Langthwaite and onwards to Tan Hill.
• Keeping on the main road at The Buck takes you up Swaledale & through the villages of Healaugh, Low Row, Gunnerside, Muker, Thwaite and to Keld.

THE ROUTE FROM THE A1 NORTH

• Travelling south on the A1, take the A66 at Scotch Corner, signed A66 and A6108 Richmond. 
• Take the Richmond turn off the roundabout and follow the route from ‘B' on the route from the M6.

THE ROUTE FROM THE M6

• Travelling north or south on the M6, take J40, A66 east, signed Scotch Corner, which is 49 miles.
• ‘B' This brings you to the roundabout on the A1 and take the 3rd exit A6108 signed Richmond.  This exit is almost all the way round the roundabout.
• Follow the road through Skeeby and enter Richmond, passing a large school complex on your left.
• Now refer to the route from the A1 south and continue from position ‘A'.

There is an alternative route from the A66 without going as far as Richmond.  37 miles after leaving the M6 turn right, signed Reeth and Scargill.  Follow this road over and through the Stang Forest and drop down into Arkengarthdale.  Turn right takes you to Tan Hill and left through Langthwaite.  Follow this road into Reeth and turn left at the Buck Hotel for Fremington and Grinton.  Turn right at The Buck Hotel for Upper Swaledale and the villages of Healaugh, Low Row, Gunnerside, Muker, Thwaite and Keld.
